Celebrating the Life of
Gertrude Kabatalemwa
May 16, 1947 – April 30, 2015
The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40

Gertrude-and-BoyWhat do you have in your hand?

As many of you know, after a short illness, April 30, 2015 our beloved Sister Gertrude Kabatalemwa passed away and has gone to be with the lover of her soul. On behalf of the family, staff, and children of Nyamabuga Foundational Schools, we thank those of you who sent support for the hospital and funeral costs. Thank you for helping us through this very difficult time, and thank you for your continued support.

What does the future hold? Sister Gertrude’s children and staff will continue the work because they feel it is the call of God for their lives. Together as we move through this transitional time, your help is very much needed and appreciated. We will continue to provide scholarships for the children, maintain and expand the farm, finish the Secondary School building so that the students can complete their exams and coordinate mission’s teams to come to the school and share their talents.

Please pray especially for the children – some feel very much alone right now. Sister Gertrude personally sponsored several children. Your continued sponsorship of the children makes a huge difference in their lives.

Our new director and Sister Gertrude’s son, Emmanuel Mwesigye will come to the US later this year so that you can get to know him personally. We will keep you updated and let you know when he will arrive. While we miss our beloved Sister Gertrude, we are grateful that our Lord has spoken into the hearts of her children and staff to ensure that her legacy stays very much alive. Truly they are the Nationals Efforts to Eradicate Poverty in Uganda.

It is with great pleasure that we introduce you to Gertrude’s family.

Sincerely,
Teresa Skinner

GERTRUDE KABATALEMWA

Gertrudes-Children

We are Gertrude’s children. We understand that your name for our Mum is Sister Gertrude. Our empaako or name of endearment tor her is Adyeeri. Her last name, Kabatalemwa, means “belonging to those who cannot be defeated” which is the spirit we share together. Our inheritance is our Mum’s lave for God and her heart of love for Uganda – a legacy and a love that cannot be defeated. It is with that spirit that we will carry on our mother’s work.

Emma-2I am Gertrude Kabatalemwa’s youngest son, Emmanuel Mwesigye. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration. I was the Administrator for the Center for International Studies and have been assisting my mother with the school, the farm, and international guests for many years. I have also served as co-director for NEEP (Nationals Efforts to Eradicate Poverty) since its inception. Recently, I have accepted the position of Director for NEEPU in Uganda and International Director of NEEPUganda USA. I will be coming to the United States later this year to represent all of us here at NEEP who are fulfilling the call of God on our lives and continuing to carry out my mother’s legacy as Nationals dedicated to Eradicate Poverty here in Uganda.

Thank you for your prayers and support, and we look forward to meeting you soon. In the meantime, I would like to hear from you! How has my Mum affected your life?

ClareI am Mary Clare Businge Gertrude’s oldest daughter. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and a Master of Business Administration Major in Human Resource Management. I have been the financial manager in Kampala for Mum. I also have been co-director over NEEP and the Academic Registrar/Bursar for CIS, the Cyprus Institute of Marketing. CIS is a college that Mum brought to Kampala that helps the working class earn degrees in business and sharpen their professional marketing skills, so that they may become more effective in their companies. I have accepted the position of Director for CIS.

When I am not in Kampala, I am sending supplies back and forth to Nyamabuga, or I am visiting my daughter, Mercy, who attends the Nyamabuga Primary School. I am very glad my brother has stepped up to become the Director of NEEP as my Mum would be very proud of him.

Peter

Hello my name is Peter Murungi. Murungi means good or handsome. I am the middle child. Many of you have heard my Mother share my story. I was kidnapped when I was only two years old. I lived a very difficult life in Ghana. God showed my Mother things about me and how to pray for me during all of those years we were separated. Miraculously, through the internet (or the “sky” as God told my Mother), we were reunited in 2001. Since then, I help when I can. I hold a Diploma in Information Technology and I work in construction as a scaffolding manager for a Holiday Inn that is being built in Kampala. I am proud of my brother and sister as we all continue to fulfill our God-given calls and carry out our Mum’s legacy.

There are many others of us here – many nationals who have been working together with Sister Gertrude. We all wish to thank you for your love, prayers, sponsorship, support, for coming to our country, and for all that you have done for the Nationals Efforts to Eradicate Poverty in Uganda.
