To our precious Sponsors and Friends,
The School Management and the Director of Nyamabuga Foundation Schools take this opportunity to express our gratitude for your contribution and endless support towards the well-being of Nyamabuga Nursery, Primary School and Secondary School. We all extend our appreciation.
This year we were faced with a terrible tragedy and that was the loss of our Dear Mummy, Director and Mentor in all fields. It was a challenge for the family, nation and the world at large. We are grateful for the immediate support that came from sponsors and friends from the U.S. A team was delegated to represent all those that could not make it in time for the burial. We were blessed to be with our Coordinator Director Sister Teresa Skinner and Sister Annella, both from California.
We thank God for Pastor Dennis and his wife Sister Jill who had come to join Sister Gertrude in the marriage conference. Due to her ill health she had already been admitted in the Hospital and she could not make it. It was difficult to believe that Sister Gertrude was seriously ill as she was always e-mailing them, making the arrangements. On their way to Fort Portal Pastor Dennis and Sister Jill passed by the IHK Hospital and witnessed the condition Sister Gertrude was in. They went on with the conference, albeit with a lot of pain in their hearts, but managed to finish it successfully. After arriving back in the U.S., as soon as they put down their luggage, phone calls came in that Mum had passed on to be with our Lord Jesus Christ. Immediately they made a return journey and blessed the family by preaching before Mum’s burial.
Since then, Sister Teresa has flown in three times this year trying to comfort the family and help see that the work started by God, using Mum, is continued forward.
Achievements in the middle of trials
Despite the challenges faced earlier this year the children have continued to study without disturbances of absenteeism and drop out. Their performance in Academics, Sports and Debate still progressed as in the past year. In July 22nd 2015 there were games and sports across neighboring schools. Nyamabuga Primary School participated and took a Third Position out of 13 Schools. July 25th 2015 they went to Radio Station Life FM for a debate, which was also a success.
We are thankful to God and your commitment to pay the children’s sponsorship as well as the management and staff members. The staff have been getting their monthly salaries on time.
Farming at school premises:
Director Emmanuel Mwesigye, assisted by Mr. Geoffrey who is the Technical Adviser, managed to plant vegetable/fruit gardens on the school premises. They planted: cabbages, pineapples, watermelons, tomatoes, green pepper, onions and pawpaw trees.
Objectives for the vegetable/fruit gardens: The children will soon have a balanced diet along with practical lessons, which will help in entrepreneurship skills, in animal keeping and Agriculture for the Primary and Secondary section.
The Main Farm Work
They also went ahead and ploughed four (4) hectares [4 hectares is roughly 9 acres] and planted maize and beans so that children will have enough food for the next year. It also helps reduce buying from main source markets, which are costly.
Dormitory: for Primary and Secondary School
We wired both buildings with solar power because electricity is very unreliable especially when it is examination season.
Wash Rooms for Guests and Staff Members
Mum Gertrude had started to build Guest/Staff toilets, which were left half done by the time she passed. We have bought all the materials to finish roofing, toilet seats etc., and by the end of November they will be in use.
Children Trained in Christian living, Sanitation and Catering Services
The U.S. Coordinating Director Teresa Skinner, came with a team of three ladies in the month of September and trained the children and some of the staff. This took a period of one week. The training touched sensitive areas of how to live a healthy life. The children were trained how to wash their hands after visiting toilets and before every meal. They were trained on how to keep the toilets clean, how to set a dinner table, take care of visitors and when and where to use aprons. They also learned how to sing and dance a special hand washing song so that they could wash their hands for 20 seconds. The training package was so detailed that I cannot mention everything.
Music and Instrument training:
Mid October to mid November 2015, children at Nyamabuga Foundation Schools started to learn how to play key board, guitar, and other instruments.
Challenges we are Facing:
The Secondary building structure
The secondary building structure is not yet completed. We are praying hard to get Donors who can help us put up the first phase of four rooms so that by February 2016 the intake of Secondary students will improve.
The Tractor
Brother John Coast donated a John Deer tractor to help at the farm and compound. Unfortunately, it has started giving us trouble. It has the following mechanical problems: the disc plough and bearings are loose. As of now it cannot plough unless we get new plough discs, which are hard to find, and if found, are expensive.
Maize Milling Machine
Maize milling machine is missing heavy duty electricity components, so that it can start to work.
Without you we would not have accomplished all of the above. Though faced with challenges here and there, we are destined to win. Quitters never win and Winners never quit. Once again, we are grateful to you for standing with us during these trying moments.
THANK YOU!! GOD BLESS
Sincerely,
Emmanuel Mwesigye and Claire Businge
